The Cradle

Also known as the Ted Bed.  Made with love by Grandpa John, with a little help from Grandma and Dr. Goldberger. Isn't it beautiful? Teddy took to it right away (zzzz....)

Grandpa John

Grandpa's first visit with Teddy since the day he was born. Welcome back Grandpa John!

Bigfoot!

Carrying on the Amberg tradition

Visit from Aunt Jessie

We had a really nice visit from Aunt Jessie last week. She promised to teach Teddy to waterski. Probably not this summer, but maybe next?

While she was here, we took Teddy out for his first adventure in the stroller. We took a peek at him under his little canopy and he was out like a light the whole time.

Partners in crime already...

"Reggie, maybe they won't notice. Don't look suspicious!"

Mulitasking

Teddy likes to sunbathe while getting his diaper changed.

Teddy's intellectual side

Trying on Daddy's glasses. Teddy does all his best pondering in the nude.

Teddy at home

We're settling into life at home with our Teddy Bear. Here he is in a size "newborn" outfit. It was like a muscle tee on him, so I think we'll have to retire it after just the one use.

Daddy has become the expert swaddler of the family. Teddy is quite content to be tied up and sucking on his binky, looking around, checkin' things out. Or sleeping.

The Mighty THORedore!!!
Spiderman t-shirt... check. Thor hammer... check.
Teddy isn't keeping his secret identity very secret.
Dad is very proud. Mom is shaking her head.

Day 5 - Sponge Bath!

Since his umbilical cord hadn't fallen out yet, we couldn't give Teddy a proper bath, so we improvised.

Getting ready...

...for a quick dunk

Daddy teaching Teddy the importance of good grooming...

All clean! Passed out on Grandma with his hammer (I told you he was strong!)

Day 3 - leaving the hospital

We spent 2 and a half days at the hospital as mini-celebrities since Teddy was the first baby born there. It was 2 days of sleeping, crying, learning to eat, snuggling, frequent inspections from nurses and doctors and visits from friends and family.

Eventually, it was time to head home to find out if we have what it takes to be parents.
Wish us luck!

Like Father, Like Son

Grandma Charlene and Grandpa Bob brought us this photo of Brian as a newborn, see any similarities?
So far it looks like the only Amberg traits Teddy inherited are big hands and feet!

Day 2

Teddy got his hearing tested and looked adorable doing it.

p.s. He passed the test!

Introducing... Theodore Laurent

Here's our little Teddy. Born May 15, 2011 at 10:05 am, weighing 9lbs 15 oz and measuring 22 inches long!

It was a bit of an adventure. I started having contractions around dinnertime on Saturday night and by 11pm we decided to head to the hospital. The only wrinkle: it was the last night at the old hospital before the newly constructed one went active at 7am on Sunday. We were admitted to the old hospital at midnight. I held out for a couple hours before agreeing to the epidural and Brian and I were able to catch a few winks, thankfully. They woke us up at 6am, unplugged all the monitors and wheeled me down the hall to the elevator, out the side door, across the red carpet (literally!) and into the brand new hospital. Soon, it was time to push and at the last second our OB handed Brian a smock and a pair of gloves and had him bring our baby into the world! No mystery anymore - he's a boy!
They put Teddy on my chest and the first thing I noticed was how big he was, then how strong - he was lifting his head off my chest to take a look around within seconds. Big hands, big feet and a full head of hair. Love at first sight.

Sleeping peacefully, for now.
